Our History

The Alabama Affiliate was chartered by the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) on August 3, 1988, but its roots go back to the early 1970’s when it was known as the Alabama Dairy Conference.

The AAFP serves as a state-wide educational resource for food safety professionals associated with educators, government officials, microbiologists, toxicologists, food scientists, food industry executives, and quality control professionals who are involved in all aspects of growing, storing, transporting, processing and preparing all types of foods throughout the state of Alabama.

The Association is dedicated to the education of its members and community we serve, by keeping members informed of current scientific, technical and practical developments in food safety, environmental hygiene, and regulatory updates.

Our mission is to provide Food Safety Professionals with a multidisciplinary forum for open discussion and exchange of information on protecting the food supply and promoting food safety in Alabama and beyond.
