The Alabama Association for Food Protection (AAFP), a local affiliate of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), is a non-profit organization with over 100 food safety professionals; educators, government officials, microbiologists, toxicologists, food scientists, food industry executives, and quality control professionals who are involved in all aspects of growing, storing, transporting, processing and preparing all types of foods throughout the state of Alabama. It is our mission to provide Food Safety Professionals with a multidisciplinary forum for open discussion and exchange of information on protecting the food supply and promoting food safety in Alabama and beyond. The Association is dedicated to the education of its members and community we serve, by keeping members informed of current scientific, technical and practical developments in food safety, environmental hygiene, and regulatory updates. The Association provides information to our members through our annual educational and business meeting, networking, and information exchange through numerous social medias.
Our annual educational meeting covers numerous key issues and hot topics; like, Quality Assurance, FSMA, HACCP, HARPC, Sanitation, Food Safety, Bio-terrorism, Food Defense, Food Processing/Preparation Advancements, Risk Assessment, Microbiological Concerns, Foodborne Illness, Outbreak Investigations and Epidemiology. We also showcase an emerging new food manufacturing facility in the state of Alabama. Allowing them to discuss their journeys trials, tribulations, and successes.
